With the project, we have supplied the schools with books such that now both teachers and learners have access to the books which is aiding the teaching and learning processes. This is already strengthening a reading culture.

Back to School Initiative, Nigeria

The headmistress and headmasters of the schools complained that parents are unable to procure or pay for the textbooks provided by the government. Most times students were sent out of class for not having the required textbooks. this act was a great concern that our intervention helped the community to ameliorate. Literacy level in the community has improved as students are able to assess a variety of books provided free of charge.

The books helped fill our new library. We had an almost empty library that children were eager to read in. The books helped fill the shelves and now children are enjoying them on a daily basis. This project is helping increase our reading levels.

The books are useful for teaching, learning and research which are the core functions of the university. The books have increase our library usage over the past few months as more students find the books useful for the learning and research needs. The objective of the University library is to provide learning resources that support teaching learning and research. Books2Africa’s Support to AMEU Library has enabled the library to meet a mission. We are better placed to meet the information needs of our users.
