Borama Community Health Project, Somaliland

Most Health professionals do not have access to resources such as books once they graduate. This project offers individuals the opportunity to access reading materials for further development and up to date evidence based literature. This project is still in its infancy and with the help of Books2Africa it has taken off. The healthcare professionals especially Nurses and Midwives are routinely accessing the project to develop their
knowledge and understanding in their area of interest.

Hokifa Mobile Community Library, Togo

The books have actually impacted more than 1000 kids. Through the donation, schools can use our “mobile library” and are invited to come and read at the library in our headquarters. Our partner schools actually use the books in their curriculum to improve their students through the learning of English, which is an important language in the region because Togo is situated between two major English-speaking countries (Ghana and Nigeria). So the impact is not only the importance of the books in terms of their richness, but also the books are giving the students a new vocation and interest in a new language.

Adama Secondary School, Ethiopia

The books were put in the library so the whole school community could use them. The school has around 4,000 grade 9 and 10 students and every year, the grade 10 students take national examinations. Therefore, the books meant a lot to the students. Although the curriculum is a bit different, the students are using the books in preparation for the national examinations and their teachers are also using the books as additional materials to their existing textbooks. The impact of this project is not only limited to educational purposes because it is also encouraging our students to help others.

Nodi Trust School, Zambia

The books have been arranged in the school library and we have community school going children using them from the school library. Children in the school now have library time which they enjoy immensely. Community children too have started using the library for reference books.

Community Development Training College, Zambia

There are some high schoolers who study from our institution;
these are the main targets for most of the books. We continue to use the ones that meet our level as a college and they have helped widen the understanding and sources of information which
eventually will be utilized in communities.

Muyuka School Library, Cameroon

The significance of books to the life of a student and to these students cannot be underestimated. The hundreds of students who never had a textbook to read from are now being able to go to the library and read from the variety of books donated. While the country coordinator for CEED Cameroon challenged the students to make use of the wealth of knowledge found in the books, the Principal also encouraged students to use the books and improve on their academics and urge teachers to make use of the library and enrich their curriculum.

Busesa Community Library, Uganda

The students and teachers compete for the limited textbooks provided by the government and most times the teachers will prevail. A student can complete an entire academic year without ever accessing a textbook required for their learning subjects. In the midst of this scarcity of learning and instructional resources, Busesa community library is positioning itself as a hub that can provide the appropriate stock of books and online resources to aid learning for students and teachers in this community.

Urban Resource Centre, Uganda

The community of Kawempe division extend their thanks to Books to Africa and they appreciate your support of uplifting their lives. The pupils from different schools appreciate your support to avail them with the books and they have widened their research capacities and diversified their culture. The students are very happy for the support because this has helped them do various researches in different fields

A Reader is a Leader Project, Ghana

The books received from Books To Africa International, (although some of the books did not relate to the Ghana Education Service curricula), has helped a lot of pupils/learners to have access to supplementary reading materials, stimulated their reading habits, improved their vocabulary and diction, and an overall improvement in the learning of the English Language.

Wellspring International School Community Library, Uganda

Wellspring community library is already being enjoyed by members of the local community and is proving to be an excellent place for people to appreciate the quality space to enjoy reading. We aim to encourage a love and culture of reading helping to
develop higher literacy levels in the local community.
