Impact Report
In the last years the Sudanese currency has devaluated and thus Sudanese universities have lost a lot of capacity to purchase books in English and keep their libraries well equipped. Particularly in the academic fields of the College (Computer Science, Accounting, IT, English Language and Literature) literature in English language is paramount for the progress of the students.
Applied sciences like Computer Science, IT are in continuoues and rapid development. Thus the cotribution of Books2africa allows us to provide our students in these fields with tools to fly by themselves and develop their communities.
The students are more attracted to the library as they see updated books. This fact motivates their study. We also have students of nursing from other universities who come to our library equipped thanks to the support of Books2Africa. University lecturers are now more inclined to visit the library, prepare there their lessons and send the students for further reading.
We have a 45% of refugee students from South Sudan and Eritrea that they just find access to higher education through us. They live in the outskirts of the metropolitan area of Khartoum. The empowerment of these refugee students has a wonderful impact on the commnities where they live in Khartoum in terms of job creation and in their original communties in terms of development for those who go back.
