Nigeria has one of the largest school‑age populations in the world, yet millions of children remain out of school. Around 75–88% of children enroll in primary school, but only about 63% complete it, and secondary enrollment hovers between 42–51%. Adult literacy has improved over the past decades, but rates remain uneven, especially between urban and rural areas, and between men and women. Despite government spending of about 7% of GDP on education, quality and access issues continue to limit outcomes.
