Impact Report
Springhill International School Nursery & Primary Library Support Project and our mission is to support quality education at our school (Springhill International School, Ile-Ife) by providing age-appropriate books that strengthen early reading skills, improve classroom learning, and encourage a lifelong love of reading among nursery and primary school children.
This project focuses on early-years and foundational learning, ensuring that donated books are carefully matched to nursery and primary age groups. The books are placed directly in classrooms and the library for daily use by pupils and teachers. The project supports both learning and play-based reading, helping children develop strong literacy skills from an early age.
Before finding out about Books2Africa, Springhill International School had a very limited book collection for nursery and primary pupils. The available materials were mainly basic textbooks, with very few Storybooks or supplementary reading resources. There were not enough age-appropriate books to support early literacy, independent reading, or classroom activities. As a result, our school needed additional books to strengthen our library, encourage a reading culture, and support effective teaching and learning for young children.
We received a wide range of educational books from Books2Africa, including mathematics, science, storybooks, and history books suitable for nursery and primary school pupils. The books are very good and has significantly improved our school resources. The quality of the books are excellent; they are well-presented, age-appropriate, and engaging for young learners.
The mathematics and science books have been especially useful in supporting classroom teaching and helping pupils understand key concepts more easily. The storybooks have encouraged reading for pleasure and improved pupils’ interest in reading. The history books, particularly those on topics such as Ancient Egypt and Ancient Rome, have been very valuable in introducing pupils to world history and supporting social studies lessons just to mention but a few.
Overall, we are very pleased with both the quality and variety of materials received, as they meet the learning needs of our pupils and teachers effectively.
The donated books will have a strong positive impact on our school. Around 120 pupils and 14 tutors will benefit from the materials each year. The books will strengthen our school library, help pupils learn basic library skills, and improve literacy and learning. Teachers will also use the books to support and enrich classroom teaching.
We sincerely thank Books2Africa and all staff and volunteers who made this donation possible.
