Impact Report
Children in Muwangi can not read or comprehend a book of their class and age level. This has lead to continuous poor performance at primary leaving examinations this must children not continuing to secondary school. Efforts to improve literacy levels have been undermined by lack of books with 30 children sharing one book. These books received will go a long way in helping teachers to deliver reading instruction and help the children read appropriate books of their level.
The books have raised the children’s interest in reading. They are so engaging and the children are so excited bout interacting with them. This will go along way in improving literacy levels at the school.
The children are now more interested in reading and spending so much time engaging with the books. They have never interacted with so many books before.
Teachers are currently not using the books for they are away due to lockdown. But they are very hopeful about the impacted the books will create once schools open and have a better attitude.
The children are home for the lockdown on schools but they can access the library and borrow books. They thus have developed a positive attitude towards the school and believe that once schools open, there will be better performance.
