Impact Summary

The headmistress and headmasters of the schools complained that parents are unable to procure or pay for the textbooks provided by the government. Most times students were sent out of class for not having the required textbooks. this act was a great concern that our intervention helped the community to ameliorate. Literacy level in the community has improved as students are able to assess a variety of books provided free of charge.

Impact Report

Back to School Initiative is an emerging NGO dedicated to promoting assess to quality education in public schools in Afikpo. We needed the books to empower students in public schools who scarcely have asses to reading texts.

For the first time, the students had their own reading texts to follow up with assignments, home works as well as reading for leisure. Our staff contact at the schools tells us how our books improving students classroom performance. The donated books also provided motivation for less privileged students.

Prior to our intervention teachers complained of inadequate textbooks for teaching and evaluation particularly in the English Language. With the donations, teachers are now able to assess a variety of books in preparing their lesson notes as well as the assessment of students.
