Books delivered to students and teachers in Africa

UK Registered Charity No 1152599

This October, Books2Africa is holding the Kent Computer Drive to collect donations of laptops and desktops to be refurbished and shipped to students and teachers in Africa. Books2Africa is a Canterbury-based UK registered charity (Registration Number 1152599) and a charity in Special Consultative Status with the UN ECOSOC that is committed to improving the quality of education in Africa. The charity is also a Microsoft Third Party Refurbisher (TPR). This means all the data on your donated computers and devices are securely wiped by our Tech Refurbishing Team in Canterbury through a refurbishment and reformatting process using agency-approved and validated overwriting technologies, methods and tools. You also receive an electronic Certificate of Data Wipe (CODW) when your devices are processed for GDPR compliance.

Donate your computers and technology in 3 easy steps

Step 1

Securely package your laptops, desktops and technology into cardboard boxes and scroll down to arrange a collection from your address (free collections within Kent only) or schedule a date to drop-off at our Processing Centre in Canterbury. Write your booking reference number on all your boxes.

Step 2

At our Processing Centre, our Tech Team check and refurbish your items in line with Microsoft Refurbisher standards. All data on devices are securely wiped and we email you an e-certificate of data wipe. Suitable devices are shipped to projects in Africa while others are sent to our charity shop.

Step 3

When your devices arrive in Africa, they are distributed to students and teachers to supplement their teaching and learning needs. We encourage recipient's to send us photos with the device to be sent to you by email, and we also publish detailed impact reports on our website when received .
