Impact Report
We believe that reading books will assist our children to achieve better results in English and other academic subjects. Subsequently, we expanded our education focus to establish reading programs and hubs in several rural areas, where books and libraries are not fully operational yet.
Established reading programmes and hubs in varies rural communities:
The SUACO Reading Program will be closely monitored with attendance registers to record the performance marks of their language subject, ENGLISH from 01 July 2022 – 30 June 2025.
The number of books have been divided and the following three (3) Reading Hubs identified to start our
three (3) years program:
- Step Up Arkertjies Forestry Kindergarten and Learning Support Centre
- Hope Village Namibia
- The combined school – Anna Maasdorp JSS – Duineveld
Representatives have been assigned to each Reading Hub to have story time sessions and market quarterly initiatives to instill awareness and love for books with the children. A merit system has been introduced where the kids can collect points every time they visit the reading corners for 30 minutes and longer. Prizes and awards will be distributed quarterly and included in our annual prize-giving ceremonies.
The received books are generating greater interests regarding literacy as there are now resources with which to explore and develop those interests. With resources at hand teachers and staff are also more enthustiastic and confident in the services they deliver.
