Impact Report
Watoto Wetu Tanzania are dealing with rescuing and helping children under 18 years old as well as youth under 35 years old to go away from hazards, vulnerabilities, abuse, hindrances, humiliation, marginalisation, trafficking and using drugs. Most of the children are from the street, who are involved in commercial sex or domestic work, who are being trafficked, who are involved in drugs abuse as well as orphans, marginalized and poor children. The organization helps them to get formal and non-formal education right from nursery to secondary level and vocational training education as well as colleges when there is availability of funds.
Watoto Wetu Tanzania received 500 educational books from African Aid Foundation/Books2Africa, which have had a meaningful and transformative impact on the children and youth they support. These books have:
1. Improved Access to Learning Materials: The books provided vital resources for formal and non-formal education, supporting children from nursery to secondary levels, as well as those in vocational training.
2. Enhanced Literacy and Academic Performance: With more learning materials available, children and youth have shown improvements in reading skills, academic engagement, and understanding of key subjects.
3. Supported Vulnerable Groups: Orphans, marginalized children, street children, and those recovering from abuse or trafficking now have access to quality educational content, helping restore their hope and self-esteem.
4. Strengthened Non-Formal Learning Programs: The books have enriched the organization’s community-based
education and rehabilitation programs, especially for children not currently enrolled in formal schools.
5. Inspired Lifelong Learning: By creating a learning-friendly environment, the books have sparked curiosity, ambition, and motivation among the youth to pursue higher education and vocational skills.
In summary, the donation has significantly contributed to breaking the cycle of vulnerability through education, offering these young individuals a chance at a brighter, self-sustained future.
