Impact Report
In the last three years the rate of the local currency (SDG) has devaluated from 1 euro = 57 SDG to 1 euro = 600 SDG. This fact makes impossible for universities of Sudan purchase foreign books to update their libraries. Moreover the College has just started a new BSc in Nursing where everything was to be established from scratch.
Computer Science and Information Technology are rapid changing academic fields which demand constant update. These books are fundamental for our students and lecturers to have access to the last information on these fields. As for Nursing, the books sent by Books2Africa are the beginning of the new section of the library that will help to train nurses for a country extremely in need.
We are especially touched by the voracity of the students of nursing who spend hours in the library to study with the new books. Among the students of other courses we see that are those more committed with the study that find in them a platform to project their skills.
The presence of the books facilitates that the lecturers may alternate moments in the classroom with learning moments in the library and foster their research activities.
It is soon to assess the impact of the books on the community. But I think particularly of the nurses after their graduation. The books from Books2Africa will have been essential to produce qualified nurses that may improve the destroyed health system.
