At Books2Africa, we believe hard copy books and computers complement each other to provide a holistic learning experience. During the COVID-19 lockdown, we launched our Digital Study Pack – a box containing a refurbished laptop with preinstalled Windows 10 licence and productivity apps, a solar reading light and access to premium online learning resources. The digital pack can be requested by individuals who are students or staff of an academic institution or registered NGO in any African country. Beneficiaries are required to raise funds for cost of processing, shipping, clearing, and delivering their pack.
Complete our online request form below to request and fund the shipment of a Digital Study Pack to an individual or organisation based in any African country. Select the online learning platform you prefer, suitable for primary to tertiary readers. All applicants must agree to not sell donated materials if approved.
Raise funds to cover the cost of shipping and clearing your donated materials. Your fundraising target is a total of £150 for door-to-port shipping and you are responsible for clearing charges at destination, or a total of £200 inclusive of clearing and door-to-door delivery. Digital Study Pack is dispatched after funds are received.
Your Digital Study Pack is dispatched and delivered within 3-5 days by DHL. Immediately after receiving your pack, you are required to send us Impact Photos of the beneficiaries holding or using the laptop and solar light received. After a month of use, you are also required to complete an Impact Report questionnaire online.
Books2Africa is a Microsoft Third-Party Refurbisher and all our laptops and desktops meet the minimum requirements for Windows 10 Pro. Our Tech Team checks and refurbishes donated technology in line with Microsoft’s standards, ensuring all data on devices are securely wiped and reinstalled with original licences and essential productivity apps. Refurbished laptops come with a battery and charger and refurbished desktops come with a monitor and essential accessories. The minimum specifications are 4GB RAM and 100GB HDD.
