Summary

Books2Africa is set to launch its first-ever annual #PageByPage Reading Challenge on 1 October 2024, aiming to inspire participants to start reading as a hobby and highlight the transformative power of reading. The challenge, running throughout October, aligns with Books2Africa’s mission to promote literacy and education.

The #PageByPage Challenge encourages both new and seasoned readers of all ages to embark on a personal reading journey throughout October. The challenge offers flexibility to suit all schedules – participants can read as little or as much as they like.

“Many of us love the idea of reading but never seem to have the time, so there’s no better excuse to rediscover the joy of reading. We want to inspire as many people as possible worldwide to read a book in October,” said Dr Tonson Sango, Director of Operations at Books2Africa.

Why reading is a cool hobby

Reading is an incredibly rewarding hobby, offering endless opportunities for exploration and imagination. It allows you to travel to different worlds, experience diverse perspectives, and dive into fascinating stories, all from the comfort of your own space. Beyond being entertaining, reading enhances knowledge and sparks curiosity, keeping the mind engaged and active.

In addition to the intellectual benefits, reading sharpens focus, improves memory, and develops critical thinking skills. Regular reading expands vocabulary, enhances language abilities, and fosters better problem-solving. It’s a mentally stimulating activity that promotes personal growth while being enjoyable.

Reading also creates a sense of community, connecting people through shared stories and discussions. Whether it’s through book clubs, online forums, or simply exchanging recommendations, readers bond over their love for literature. Plus, reading offers a peaceful escape from daily stresses, providing relaxation and inspiration when needed.

Participation is simple

Whether you’re a voracious reader or just starting your reading journey, #PageByPage is designed with you in mind.

  1. Sign up for the challenge on Books2Africa’s website https://books2africa.org/pagebypage/
  2. Choose a book – either one you already own, purchase a new one, or borrow from a library
  3. Share your reading journey throughout October by posting about it on social media using the hashtags: #PageByPage #Books2Africa #ReadingChallenge and tagging Books2Africa.

And There’s Rewards!

To add excitement to this reading challenge, all participants will be entered into a draw to win Audible and Waterstones vouchers. This incentive not only rewards engagement but also encourages more readers to continue the habit of reading by spending their winnings on more printed or audiobooks.

Throughout October, Books2Africa will post a series of engaging content and reading tips to enhance the challenge experience. These will include virtual Q&A sessions, tours of the charity’s processing centre, and chats with readers about their experiences.

The #PageByPage Challenge is free to join and we’re excited to see how this first-ever challenge will inspire and connect readers worldwide.

Charity Shop FAQs

We try our best to get your order to you as soon as possible. After dispatch, our standard delivery (Royal Mail First Class) typically arrives the next day in the UK (but can take up to 7 days), in 6 days to the EU and 10 days worldwide. It is important to note that delivery times are out of our control, as we do not deliver the goods ourselves.

If the error is ours, we will reprint free of charge. If the error is yours, we will reprint for 25% of the original amount. If we have sent you the wrong size garment, we will absolutely remake it for you in the right size when you return it.

The guidance measurements given next to the shirts are supposed to represent what size person they fit. They are not the actual measurements of the garment itself, which naturally need to be larger than the person they are designed to fit.

Firstly, please ignore the washing instructions in the garment itself. These are for blank garments and not printed ones.

Wash your shirts at 40 degrees or less. Iron on reverse (cool). Do not tumble dry.

Whilst Royal Mail normally deliver all first class post within 1-2 working days, they can on occasion take longer. In the unlikely event that your goods do not arrive, allow 7 days before calling us. We cannot authorise any remakes before this time has passed as Royal Mail have been known to deliver within this time.

However, if you paid to have Express delivery, contact us immediately as we can provide you with the tracking reference to chase it with the carrier.
